About Château De Pennautier Tickets

The Chateau de Pennautier is a family-owned estate in the Languedoc wine region that is widely regarded as one of the best wineries in the Carbadès wine appellation. Their wines are refined, balanced, and perfectly express the richness of the Black Mountains' limestone terroirs, which are influenced by both the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas. The variety of grapes they use allows them to create wines with a nice sense of harmony. Blends of Cabernet, Merlot, Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grenache create nuanced and flavorful wines that showcase the bounty of the South of France’s terroirs. Chateau De Pennautier tickets allow you to experience a tasting in our boutique cellar, led by our sommelier, where you can learn about the winemaking philosophy of the domain, the impact of the barrel, and the unique terroirs of our Cabardès, Minervois, La Livinière, Saint Chinian, and Faugères appellations. Pennautier Castle

A public vineyard, Castle Pennautier can be found in the Aude, right in the middle of Occitan territory. This house from the seventeenth century, with its exterior and interior both drawn by Le Nôtre at the time, has been designated as a historical monument because of its significance. In addition to hosting events like weddings and conferences, they also offer wine tastings and bottle sales. There is a restaurant on the premises, so they can sample the regional fare as well.

Field of Borie Blanche

The Field of Borie Blanche , situated at Livinière and AOP Minervois’s center and, is a crucial stop along the wine route. The Minervois is dominated by the Mediterranean, and it is shaped like a huge amphitheater facing south with the Montagne Noire as its backdrop. The AOP la Livinière is a unique terroir made up of limestone and shale that reaches its highest point at 400 meters in the center of the Minervois appellation. A mineral atmosphere is conjured up during a tasting of the estate's great wines; between the low walls, you may find a small dry stone hut, standing out like a black opening against the white pebble backdrop, and the domain is named after this creature, a "borie."

Ciffre Castle

There is only one other property in the area that extends into three different Appellations d'Origine Protégée (AOP): Château de Ciffre, which has been authorized in organic farming since 2019. The "Decanter Regional Trophy"–winning wines of the castle transport you to untamed, otherworldly landscapes. A wine with delicate aromas that captures the essence of this extraordinary location can be found at the nexus of limestone, gneiss, or schist terroirs.

MAS of the Mountains

Located between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, the Côtes du Roussillon Villages vineyard produces some excellent wines. It rises above the Agly Valley, which is hemmed in on one side by the Corbières Range and the Pyrenees on the other. The vines bind to terraces of schist, limestone, gneiss, or granite, all with a view of the majestic Mount Canigou. The vineyards of Latour de France and Caramany are spread across reclaimed islands of remarkable gneiss or black schist. Wonderful black shale terroirs can be found in the French regions of Maury and Saint-Paul de Fenouillède. Everything in this region is a study in contrasts, from the lofty elevations to the precipitous inclines to the high-quality, unique soils.

Field of Garille

The estate's clay-limestone terroir, located in the center of the Cabardès Appellation, brings together the best of the Mediterranean sun and the coolness of the Atlantic. The estate is situated in a beautiful natural environment, perfect for a wine tourism route, with vineyards and a large pine forest on all sides. Domaine de Garille is an annex of the neighboring Château de Pennautier, where the estate's wines are vinified.

Castle of Caunettes

The vineyard is situated close to the village of Moussoulens in the westernmost part of the Cabardès Appellation, with a picturesque view of the Pyrenees to the south. They have a visibility of nearly 100 km on clear days. Clay-limestone soil with a heavy limestone content is ideal for growing the AOP Cabardès grapes because of the region's alternating oceanic and Mediterranean climate. It's not just a great place to grow grapes; the region is also home to the department's truffle conservatory.

History Of Château De Pennautier

Founded in 1620 in Languedoc, the grand Château de Pennautier is home to the Lorgeril family, who also own and operate the nearby independent vineyard Maison Lorgeril. Nicolas de Lorgeril comes from a long line of vintners; his family has been making wine in France for four centuries. The Pennautier vineyards are located in the center of Cabardès, only a few kilometers from the fortified city of Carcassonne. Here, the mild Atlantic influences moderate the region's typically hot summers and mild winters, making it an ideal climate for living. They offer a breathtaking panorama of the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, and the walled city below, from an altitude of up to 360 meters. Located between the Mediterranean and Atlantic climates, this appellation is the only PDO in France to allow the blending of grape varieties more commonly associated with the Mediterranean, such as Syrah and Grenache, with those more commonly associated with the Atlantic, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
